Greetings Parishioners,

I’d like to introduce myself. I am Father Tamaru. I have recently transferred from Saint Ignatius Parish in Tokyo where I served for the past eight years. I’d like to give you a little history about myself. My father was the first member of my family to be baptized as a Catholic when he was a college student. My elder brother who is three years older than me was baptized when he was born.  However, at that time my mother had not yet been baptized. Three years after my brother was born, my mother became pregnant with me and at the same time she was preparing to be baptized on Christmas Day. She was extremely grateful when she was baptized. I know I also received the same blessings while I was in her womb.

When I was a high school student, I received a statue of our Holy Mother Mary from a priest. He made the statue of our Holy Mother Mary.  Since that time, I have always felt that I received special protections from our Holy Mother Mary. While I was a college student and thinking about my future plans, I received a special calling from God to become a Priest. I talked about this special calling with my parents and although they had some reservations about this, they supported my decision to become a Priest. I feel that God is always walking with me in my life and our Holy Mother Mary is also watching over me with a mother’s heart. Unfortunately, my mother passed away nine years ago. Since then, I have felt that both our Holy Mother Mary and my mother have become united to support me in my life and prayers.

I take praying the Most Holy Rosary every day very seriously. The Rosary is truly a wonderful and powerful prayer. The Rosary gives me the energy I need to carry out my daily duties and functions. Today, we are in a difficult and challenging time. Unfortunately due to the current circumstances, we cannot attend mass at church as we would all like to. However, God invites all of us to look up to and talk to Him in prayer. For now, this is what we are able to do until we can join Him again in the Holy Mass. With the help of God, I will do my best to support all of you in my services. I look forward to meeting all of you in the near future.
